As a Sr. Level Designer you will design engaging games and interactive experiences that delight children and resonate with parents. This role is all about championing fun, intuitive play while pushing the boundaries of innovation to make Lingokids stand out in the world of educational entertainment. A key responsibility of this role is to mentor a team of ~five junior level designers, providing guidance and support in their day-to-day work and professional development.
What you’ll do
- Onboard, supervise, inspire, motivate, and mentor other Junior and Mid Technical Level Designers.
- Collaborate with Production to plan for future game releases that align with the company’s goals.
- Design and produce, according to set guidelines, the layouts, levels, parameters, and features for our games inside the Unity Editor.
- Ensure that Interactive Contents contribute to players retention and engagement KPIs.
- Develop and evolve in-depth technical design documentation.
- Study, synthesise, and communicate technical requirements for assets among the various teams.
- Ensure the technical optimization of existing games and work towards processes that can improve the games performance and quality.
- Promote quality standards and best practices for asset implementation and optimization inside the team.
- Assist in the prototype of simple game experiences using internal tools.
- Understand the particularities, motivations and expectations of children, from 2 to 8 years old, regarding games.
- Collect qualitative feedback from user tests with kids, and quantitative data from metrics, analyze the results and make development decisions based on them.
What you’ll bring
- 4+ years of experience as a Level Designer, or Technical Game Designer, ideally within mobile or educational gaming.
- Proven experience designing and shipping interactive experiences or games in Unity.
- Previous experience working with children’s digital content or products aimed at young audiences (2–8 years old) is highly valued.
- 1+ years of experience mentoring or supervising junior team members is a strong plus.
- Proficiency in Unity Editor for designing levels, features, layouts, and game parameters.
- Experience with technical documentation: ability to define, write, and maintain in-depth design documentation and specifications.
- Strong understanding of technical optimization practices in Unity to ensure performance and quality.
- Familiarity with scripting logic and basic implementation of gameplay mechanics (visual scripting or basic coding knowledge is a plus).
- Solid grasp of interaction design, game mechanics, player motivation, and level design principles.
- High-quality standards and strong attention to detail in gameplay polish.
- Strong collaboration skills to work across teams (production, UX, art, engineering).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to motivate, mentor, and guide less experienced designers.
