Mission
Lead the design discipline at Lingokids, evolving our Playlearning™ user experience in sustainable ways. Define and scale our design principles, systems, and practices to create a world-class mobile experience that delights children and parents, drives measurable business outcomes, and elevates design as a strategic capability inside the company.
Responsibilities
- Design Leadership: Own the end-to-end UX/UI vision, strategy, and execution for Lingokids’ products.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Engineering, Content, Marketing, and Brand to align user needs and business goals.
- Thought Leadership: Represent design internally and externally, evangelizing Lingokids’ approach to play-based learning UX.
- Innovation & Optimization: Balance bold new ideas (new features, UI innovations) with iterative improvements to core flows.
- Team Coaching: Manage and mentor a team of ~3 designers, providing detailed feedback, hands-on corrections, and long-term growth plans.
Others:
- User Research: Champion user research and hypothesis-driven design decisions.
- Stakeholder Management: Handle complex, high-pressure conversations and influence executives with clarity and authority.
- Design System: Define, implement, and evolve a scalable design system and documentation that supports high quality at speed.
What success will look like in the first 12 months:
- Mobile Design Excellence: Establish and enforce a gold standard in mobile product design across Lingokids (UI, interaction, flows, usability).
- Impact on Retention & Engagement: Lead design contributions that demonstrably improve subscription conversion, user engagement, and NPS.
- Team Development: Coach and level-up junior designers through hands-on guidance and mentoring. Define clear growth paths for design roles.
- Stakeholder Influence: Earn trust and credibility across Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Studios, ensuring design is a central voice in decision-making.
- (Nice to have) Design System at Scale: Build and maintain a robust design system that enables consistency, rapid iteration, and innovation across squads.
Requirements:
- Proven experience: 7+ years in mobile product design with a strong mobile portfolio with significant impact on users and business outcomes.
- Proven track record with consumer subscription products, ideally in education, gaming, or kids’ space.
- Prior experience leading and scaling design teams.
- Hands-on coaching ability: Skilled at teaching junior designers through direct demonstration, not just abstract feedback.
- Experience aligning UX/UI decisions with clear hypotheses and measurable KPIs.
- Strong communication & influence: Proven success managing senior stakeholders and earning trust.
- Thrives under pressure: Demonstrated ability to deliver in fast-paced, high-urgency environments.
- Energy & drive: Ambitious, proactive, and motivated to make a big impact, not looking for a “safe” role.
- English fluency: Excellent spoken and written communication, including long-form async writing.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with game design/mechanics.
- Experience with kids’ products (ages 2–8).
- Background in user research leadership.
- Expertise in career frameworks and progression for designers.
